Sustainability Champion of the Year

We are very excited and honoured to have received the Sustainability Champion of the Year – Large Agency award at the 2022 Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards!

This award has come from the travel industry and recognises us as leaders across the entire industry, recognising the hard work we are doing to promote sustainability and greener travel.

The Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards are the largest celebration of the travel trade in the UK & Ireland and the highest accolade for travel agencies and agents. The awards are designed to honour those travel agencies and travel agents who truly represent the best of the travel industry and recognise excellence in a range of categories and specialisms.

The glittering awards ceremony was held in front of more than 600 guests in London in association with headline sponsor Virgin Atlantic and was hosted by television and radio favourite Vernon Kay alongside Travel Weekly editor-in-chief Lucy Huxley. The award winners are selected based on voting by travel industry suppliers including tour operators, airlines, cruise lines and tourist boards, with some categories decided by panels of expert judges.

Co-Founders, Steve Witt and Paul Harrison were in attendance to receive the incredible award presented by Lucy Huxley

We want to say a huge thank you to all of our customers who have supported our Climate Hero Initiative and have helped to raise £10,000's to support sustainability projects.

Travel That Gives Back

Your holiday booking can now help to protect and restore our planet.

With the help of our Positive Impact Project, you can feel even better about booking that dream trip or last-minute break.

Working alongside our environmental partner Mossy Earth, experts in rewilding, it couldn’t be easier to stand up for nature and be a part of the solution every time you choose to travel with us.

Rewilding can help create a healthier, more resilient natural world. Catch a glimpse of the projects we’re currently supporting in the video below.

Travel That Gives Back

How does it work?

  • Every trip includes a Positive Impact Project Contribution of £5 per passenger
  • If you feel compelled to contribute more to these projects that is great
  • We promise regular updates of the impact of these projects on our blog & Facebook

What is the Positive Impact Project?

It wasn’t just a tick in the box, another tree planting scheme, or a serving of ‘greenwashing’, we wanted to do so much more with our customers' help to make a real difference.

Here are a few examples of projects we're supporting:

Restoring Temperate Rainforest along Loch Arkaig

Sadly the UK has been ranked 189th out of 218 countries for its quality of nature. By restoring the Caledonian forest in the Scottish Highlands, we can help to lock up carbon and bring the landscape back to a wilder state. Following heavy deforestation over generations and overgrazing by sheep and deer, these forests need our help. That’s why we’re planting native trees with our customers’ help.

Coral revival in Indonesia

Coral reefs are known as “the rainforests of the sea”. These vibrantly complex ecosystems harbour the highest biodiversity of any ecosystem globally. An estimated 25% of all marine species depend on reefs. They are also crucial for millions of people, providing food, livelihoods, resources and coastal protection.

Reversing Desertification

Termites may appear small but they are impressive engineers of their ecosystem. Their mounds and tunnels change the structure of the soil such that it retains more water. All of this generates “islands of fertility” and an abundance of plants. These mounds are thought to increase the resilience of the entire savannah ecosystem to droughts. This is key as Africa is one of the most vulnerable continents to climate change, despite it being one of lowest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions.
